Twas the Night Before Breeding

Twas the night before breeding, and all through the house
Not a creature was moving, Not even my mouse.
The Spreadsheets were laid on the desktop with care,
In the hopes that a winner was lurking in there.

The mares were nestled all snug in their stalls
The stallions were hyper because of their balls.
The laundry, the dishes, the cleaning; not done
I sit here and wait for the night script to run.

When there on my page a symbol appears!
“Breed to this stallion” (owe money for YEARS!)
Away to my stud page I fly like a flash
And set all the stud fees for one million CASH!

The moon thru my window reflects off the screen
I’d turn on the light, but that’d just be too mean.
My spouse doesn’t get it and that’s just too bad
To not have those yearlings would just be SO sad!

I see someone else on the forum now, dammit
You KNOW that that someone has got to be Ammit.
More rapid than eagles her fingers they fly
Making all these new features that I now must buy!

Now Zaphod! Now Rhymnic! Now Capone and Panther!
On Thantos! On Mickey! Penumbra and Empire!
To the top of the dummy, to the top of the mare
Make fillies or colts, I really don’t care!

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane blow
Straws will be sold left and right, I just know.
The system is starting to run rather slow.
Someone call Ammit, I just HAVE to know!

I speak not a word, but go straight to my work
And fill all my stalls, then turn with a jerk
And laying a finger to wipe off a tear
I remember my embryo’s I saved for this year!

Exhausted and dragging, I fight off the urge
To purchase more barns, I cannot just splurge!
But look at those babies, there on my laptop
How can I manage to make myself stop?!

Now finally its dawn and there are no mares left to breed
Some food and some sleep are the things that I need.
But the alarm is now sounding, I must go to work
To make some more money,
