So I was wondering, have anyone ever timed their competitions? Did one take insanely long? What level was it?

The horses in the 2N, 3L, 4N, 6L, 6W held my barn back today, but they're doing rather well in their shows anyway. How do I figure out what my ratio is for my horses. I know I want a greater show barn than breeding horses.

On my stallions i want at least 6 foundation studs or is that a bit much and then 2 stallions for each gen after that.

Is it easier to cull my studs or my mares?

As far as color I am having a hard time deciding which color i want to strive for so would my best bet be to cull on pt scores even though that doesnt have anything to do with breeding ability. Or should I choose my height. Do remember that the FB page is for both servers (HJ1 and HJ2). Hj1 has some features that HJ2 doesn't, and vice versa. It also has a LOT more players.

Anyway, someone made a post about % of breeding horses vs % of show horses in their barns, and what it takes to make a profit. I thought it was interesting enough to share. As soon as they post the charts and graphs mentioned in the post I will copy them over here. Thanks to Sara for her permission!

There was a post talking about numbers of snipped horses, percentage of intact horses and what your show bonus was each week, someone was doing up some awesome graphs and the trends were really cool. When I started out looking at my stock I think i had in the vicinity of 75% intact horses (25% show ponies), was surviving on infusions at least twice a week and wasn't really focused on showing (I think my bonus was in the vicinity of 100k per week).
Now after a hard 6 months of culling and assessing, I have 8116 show ponies, only 12.8% intact horses and a showing bonus of 305k per day (2.1 mil per week). I don't buy anything but the occasional bulk order of GMTs or new genes with RL money, everything else comes out of my showing bonus. I'm not done culling yet, got about another 200 mares to sort and about 400 more foals to come but I'm hoping to settle at about 9-10% intact horses for now. While this doesn't help Ellie survive (sorry Ellie!), by making my barns self sufficient it is meaning I am spending more game money, I'm able to buy more things with RL money despite being on a very limited budget and the quality of my mares is starting to become really consistent.
My point being, to all the newbies starting, it is possible to grow your barns without spending millions in RL money (again sorry Ellie! but its better we spend a little and still play then be bankrupt right?) and when everyone says focus on show ponies they aren't kidding.
