If that doesn't work, I am probably going to have to scrap the whole 3 year old breeding program. I wouldn't even know what quality of stud to put with the mares. The higher quality studs are most likely inflating my mare's AFPT scores, making it a guessing game as to what quality they actually are. They are also probably spread out over at least two, if not three tiers of breeding quality at this point. I am not looking forward to starting from scratch.

I suppose I could use my experimental, uneven breeding lines, to salvage some of the blood from my old lines. If I can get back to A/Blue, or maybe just at start of the Star/gold level of papered horses I could build from there using the new testing parameters (testing against both parents) to keep my mares and studs more even.

Look at her fronts legs. Looks like she's wearing arm warmers or bandages. Her sire has the exact same markings and so do several of his other foals.

duck. Duck. GOOSE! I just like Gooses face, okay?
Sadly though Goose has varnish and the mark will eventually disappear. I have yet to get it to pass to one of her foals

I bred my first HJ foal! Unfortunately she got snipped, but I do like her colour! She is by my Conversation Hearts stud and out of a foundation mare that happened to paper Red! Her dam is doing so well showing that I don't want to send her to pasture quite yet. I'm sure this cross will work better in the future when I can use some pasture bonus. For the most BASIC of breeding suggestions we could say that when we have a horse that has been tested for everything we should probably match mares and stallions in 3 areas: AFPT scores (mares and stallions should be fairly close to each other), papering scores (same as AFPT scores) and check for lethal white. ETA: Oh, and match generations if possible, but not a deal breaker.

I've been pretty pleased at the way my culling has gone. The stallions (only 2, I think) that got the snip were my 'sentimental saves', horses that I knew wouldn't pass, but kept them for emotional reasons (lesson learned - only get attached to the good ones! =)) ) and some that I bought for prices that seemed pretty cheap at the time, or were mares culled from someone elses herd that I wanted to give a chance with my stallions.

Now I'm going to give my clicking thumb a rest!
