XP- how do you earn it? Can you lose XP? Is it used for anything other than earning extra stalls?

Now say I breed him 10 times and wind up with 8 altered foals--all of which were snipped on regular breeding advice.
Of those 10, only 3 are consistent, and all 10 have PTs lower than his.

Say the mares are of sound quality (not PF, but not horrible either).

Would it be a safe assumption that he would not be a good producer? In that situation, would how much of a breeding boost would you apply, if any?

I’ve only been here just over a month, so experienced opinions greatly appreciated... even if it's just 'bin that mare' :p

Of the bare bones breeding plans I have in my head, one is a chocolate/liver line. What I would like from the cross is either liver or chocolate, with pearl being a nice bonus if it happens. So my initial thought for the straw was this mare:


G1 KR Tawny Owl

The only issue is she’s just turned 4 so I have no previous breeding experience with her, and she’s also both inconsistent and 8.3 PTG. (I’m happy to ‘fix’ consistency, and boost the foal if necessary).

Alternatively, there’s my King’s Ransom mare – the only downside being her foal from last year was gelded, which is not ideal. She’s also hom for black which means I don’t have any chance of a red baby... but if she’s a ‘safer’ bet in terms of avoiding the snip, I could still go for it.

For the stallion, the Advanced Breeding Lab says I can pull a maximum of 500 straws.

• If I pull straws, can I still (pasture) breed him?
• Or should I (pasture) breed him first, and then pull straws?
• Does (pasture) breeding take away from the number of straws I can pull, or vice versa?

For the mare, the Advanced Breeding Lab says I can pull single eggs or do a mass egg flush to get between 8 and 14 eggs in a single go. But then I can't pull more eggs or breed her for the rest of the season after the mass flush.

• So how often can I pull a single egg?
• After I pull single eggs, I can still do a mass egg flush at the end of the season, correct?
• Is there any way to also pasture breed her before or after pulling eggs? Or is it that once I breed her, I can't pull anymore eggs? Can I pasture breed her after I've pulled single eggs (obviously can't after the mass flush)?
