I'm just asking out of complete curiosity. This is not urgent or important!

I have been trying to figure out the whole sooty/Dense Phelomelanin thing. As I understand it, sooty has 3 recessive forms of the allele, which give you normal sooty for red or black based horses, DP for red based horses or sooty+ which I completely don't understand. Or is sooty+ the breeders club for both alleles? Would someone illuminate me please? And would someone post a pic/link to a DP horse, as I haven't seen one yet and I'm curious. I'm new to this game, I've put 8 mares in the paddock with the stallion but only 4 are able to breed. All are of breedable age and not spayed. Is there something I'm missing here???

Also, I tried to buy a horse from the Foundation Rescue page, but it said I had to be level 5 to purchase. I double checked on the Manage Upgrades page, and my upgrade appears to be active.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

1--since this is a color genetics based game, are rarer colors more valuable horses? Or can more common colors still be money spinners? (I favor blood bays and buckskins in real life)

2--it's the 10th of the month. Is it worth trying to breed my mares now or should I just show and train this month, try to build a herd of mares with my Create a Horse button and breed I the next "year" starting in October? I've already picked up 1 mare from Foundation Rescue and plan to pick up at least one more. Also can mares still show and train from the pasture?
