Is it just me or is anyone else ever amazed at the quality horses you can find in the auction? All of my next big breeders I got from the past few auctions. I’m not a very lucky person or good at this game and I even managed to come across some desirable genes! I love auction foals (:

I'm thinking of getting premium acct but if something comes up or changes in a few months or even in a year and I have to go back to the basic acct will I loose everything that I've gotten with a premium acct like any extra barns or horses I build up?

About 2 weeks ago I neutered my 6 year old Dane Rafal who retired from breeding. Hes been swelling so I've been icing and giving him medications both to do inflammation and pain. Hes also on a sedative since he wants to run around! I have already talked to the vets since I work with them. Then 2 nights ago my other Dane Odin decided to break his dew claw in half......it finally tore off but I had to keep it wrapped. Now I am walking these two around the yard on leashes in the snow and 10 degree weather at all hours of the day and night. They really love to go out around 3am. Tomorrow I am getting my female Dane Nox spayed and my kitten Lilith. I am really hoping they do better than the boys because I am losing my mind! On top of all this I am getting the house redone and preparing for the arrival of our first baby. I feel like I live in a fun house -_-

I love hearing about different/new things. So tell me about the New Years Day traditions common to your area or culture or family. Leave your user id# and I will draw for some goodies. :)

For me it would be cooking a big pot of collards, a big pot of black eyed peas, and a ham, and receiving a half dozen calls from my mother and various aunts checking to make sure I am cooking the collards, peas, and ham. My other tradition is making sure to watch the Tournament of Roses Parade. I love watching the equestrian groups.

Gypsy Vanner Grooming Hacks

I need to find a new way to keep their manes from tangling and twisting into knots, but it can't be super labor intensive

Today is one of my dogs birthday! She's a now 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier :) :x She is 100% blind due to Glaucoma and cataracts but she's still my spoiled little princess ^_^

It's snowing here almost all day. You're lucky when you don't have to wait on a bus stop/tram stop without umbrella.
Most of the snow is melting quickly, so it's wet and slippery.

I forgot to take more photos on my way home, nah.

Woohoo! One thing I adore about winter is the slim chance of snow we get here in Alabama - and last night I was thrilled when we got some of the white stuff! We ended up with an inch and a half (enough to shut down any small southern town). Having only seen snow a handful of times in my life, I am of course ecstatic and am sharing my giddiness with a giveaway. Up for grabs: a First Snow mare, two snowflake show ponies, and a set of three straws from a het. snowflake stallion. Does anyone sense a theme? Heart Breaking News - Lilac Fire

The victims of the Lilac fire, as well as the other fires in California are in my thoughts and prayers. Asking for yours as well.

I was on a short vacation, but came home early because of the Santa Ana winds and the extreme fire danger. Living in California I have been through many fires before. I've had to evacuate my horses, dogs and cats, several times over the years. This Lilac fire is the fastest fire I have ever experienced. Cal Fire also said it was the fastest growing fire they had seen. The first day it went from starting to 500 acres in 40 minutes. It was burning an acre about every 1.3 minutes. We live in the 'Be Prepared Evacuation Area', but went to help people get livestock out of the 'Mandatory and Voluntary Evacuation Areas.'

Many, many horse trailers were stopped and sent back to the voluntary area the fire was moving so fast, Cal Fire wouldn't let anyone in. It moved so fast very few trailers could make it to the San Luis Rey Training Facility to get around 500 Thoroughbred horses in training out. The people there tried valiantly to get the horses out. Some frightened animals were turned loose on the property, but 29 of them didn't make it and perished.

Some other pet owners said they had no time to even get their small pets out. The evacuated horses and livestock were taken to the Del Mar Racetrack. They asked for volunteers with horse experience to come help. As well as donations of hay and bedding.

I went down there yesterday. It is so heart breaking for the horses and owners. It is going to take a long time healing for the livestock that were injured or with burns on them. It was a relief to see the horse community come together to help owners with these horses, that lost their homes as well. They still need timothy hay and bedding for the horses, and people are coming through for the victims.

Allergy tests and more

So I have an allergy test scheduled for tomorrow morning and i'm not quite sure what to expect. I will also eventually be setting up a GI appointment to get samples taken from my stomach and I also need to get blood drawn. Long story short, I have had the same problem for 4.5 years and its slowly getting worse (a cough basically). The last doctor I went to a few years ago said it was all in my head 8-| Before that I had done 2 breathing tests, had chest x-rays, had a camera down my throat (through my nose) twice, and been on 8 different medication; including a steroid inhaler. Since nothing was helping, my doctors basically gave up. So since it's been getting worse, I talked to my primary physician and he thinks it could possibly be a food allergy or Auto Immune Disorder. So if y'all could say some prayers for me to get some answers, I would really appreciate it!

Hi guys,

So I am getting a puppy soon (she's only 11 days old at the moment) and I can't for the life of me come up with a name I like. The little one is a female chocolate (possibly lilac) merle border collie. She has a fair amount of white on her face and her white markings go straight through her eye so it may be blue or partially blue.

I am super fussy with names and don't usually like people names. It needs to be easy to say and not too long. My previous girls name was Panda. It is must be boyfriend approved.

Current liked suggestions are:
-Latte
-Duchess
-Dream

If anyone offers a name that I end up naming her I will give 3 free straws from any of my stallions and possibly a choice out of a select few foals.

Anyone who has lots of good suggestions I may also offer a free straw from selected stallions (KP or Snowflake)

Is Anybody Riding the Desert Bus?

Desert Bus For Hope 2017 is on hour 121+. My health usually has a nasty symptom flare-up around this time of year, and 2017 was no exception, so I am grateful to have the "company" for a week I am often bedridden. I keep the stream running by casting to the desktop monitor screen we use as a "television" in my house, while I read a book or browse the internet on my tablet. My HJ horses appreciate the extra attention they are getting this week!

Do you watch the crew Drive That Bus? What team are you? My house is loyal to Zeta Shift. This is my fifth year bussing. DBFH is always the highlight of my November. Things are getting a little loopy with my sleep-deprived Canadian (and American) buddies, but it's still a ton of fun.

To my fellow bussers, what's your favorite Desert Bus memory? Your favorite driver? Bill and Kate (BILLSMOM!), have a special spot in my heart.

For those unfamiliar with DBFH, a team of awesome, nerdy (in the best way) humans plays the most BORING game in the world, non-stop, while their friends hold contests, auctions, and other entertainment to keep the driver awake. The goal behind these shenanigans is to raise money for the charity Child's Play. Child's Play works to bring games and toys to children in hospitals, especially for children undergoing long-term stays.

My friend lost her mare Chatter today. She colic this morning a little after 8 am. They had to put her down a little after 5 tonight. She never did poop. They walked her and tried trailering her to no avail. This is a friend of mine that had to put Chatters baby down last week because he was born with no eyes. This has been very hard on them and us as well. My boys rode Chatter when we first joined 4h. That was 2 years ago. Chatter was just 15 years old.

I need prayers today...

I have an Appaloosa HH I really wanted to utilize for some new foundation stock. I was running pretty low on funds, so I decided to just create what I could. My fifth horse was a 250,000 hjb lotto winner! THANK YOU, AMMIT! Now I can create all 30 of my HH : )

In other REALLY HAPPY NEWS, I finally found and saw a doctor today who is familiar with my genetic disease. He doesn't want to have me as a patient (for a good reason: my medical needs are beyond his scope of expertise), BUT HE KNOWS MY DISEASE! That is SUPER big to me. He also gave me some referrals to medical centers that possibly CAN help me. My disease is not common. It's a "doctors ask me 'how do you spell that?'" level of uncommon. It took 20 years (YEARS) of searching for me to even get a diagnosis. "Yay" for rare genetic mutations with limited research and knowledge. To hear a doctor say to me for the first time EVER "yes, I am familiar with and have seen other patients this disease" is like a birthday/Christmas/almost-as-good-as-getting-a-pony level of present.

Also, any other EDS zebras here? For your sake, I hope not. But if you are here, I am sure you understand my level of euphoria right now.

The first four lessons on Fridays are graphics stuff and today we have more free time than usual, so I draw this picture:

Yeah, I just wanted to share this. I know, the eye is a little bit too small, anyway drawing this horse took whole three hours (with some breaks for writing notes from the lesson, lol).
I will improve this drawing when I find some time :P

I don't know what i'm doing wrong but I just can't seem to get enough money.

I'm only making 544 hb a day from my show herd, I need to get some more show horses in my herd t help that number go up. I manual show my horses twice a week.

I try to sell horses that I think people would be interested in but no one seems to want what I have. I have a feeling its because I can't paper my horses. I would love to earn enough hb to buy a basic upgrade but I can't seem to do that.

I need help guys... Im getting frustrated not having money.
