To see the transformation of this horse has been incredible!

Right now it's just floating heads and very sloppy lines but I can't wait to see how it turns out! I know I need to do more work on the guy's face but I was timid about putting too much dark too quick

Woke up at about 4 this morning with no power (it’s been out since around 1:30am) and then the cows got out and we’re chasing the plow guy and over a foot of snow. We went to check the horses cause we put them in the barn last night and found thirteen trees down in our small 2 acre pasture alone. We then went to town and there was a power line down on the Main Street with no markings that it was down and nobody there. Got back and cleared out most the branches and trees off the fences and put the fence back up. We were lucky because in our yard a branch fell from a tree and missed the motorcycle and in the pasture a huge tree missed the shed and branches missed the hay ring, hay wagon, and hay trailer so no damage to much other than a broken fence as a result of cutting the trees off the fences. All the animals are okay just a little stressed and scared but they’ll be fine.

I have a couple of minis that are expecting this year. One is going to foal this weekend. This will be her last foal. She's Homoz Toby. She's bred to a Splash/Toby with blue eyes. I'm hoping for a blue eyed hom toby/ het Splash filly. :D I'd prefer only 40% white. Just hoping for the moon on this one.

Dam tends to throw 20% white. The foals always have 4 white stockings. Most have some face white.
Stud is young and has only had 3 foals so dont know what to expect. When crossed with a min toby he threw a max white but crossed with a 60% white toby/splash he threw a min toby/splash. :D So anything is possible! So far he's thrown 100% fillies.

I'm rambling again...Wish me luck!

I just came back from an IEA show to hear some very sad news.

For 3 years I had a really, really cool horse. His name was Chevy, and no matter your discipline/breed of choice to watch him trot around the arena would just give you goosebumps. He was 16.3, had a big stride, but was built like a halter horse. We were tough to beat in HUS, and halter. We embarrassed ourselves in WP. But he was also "Special" in a few other ways. He was colored much like a gunner. He had a bald face that was completely bald with the white extending onto his neck. The other side was horizontally half white. There was a line that curved around his eye, straight down then curved to under his jaw. He was deaf. He shedded out like 3 different colors. Sometimes it looked like he had a dun stripe.

Chevy had no points when I got him but I started showing and we got over 100 paint points in

HUS (2 ROMs)
Eq
SMS (ROM)
HMS
WP
Trail
Reining
Halter (ROM)
We even tried hunter hack

and numerous high point, and year end awards.
Anyways, I'll try to get pictures, but my Mom and I were ready to get a horse that we could share. We sold Chevy to a nice lady in Hawaii. She had issues with him spooking a couple times but they got past that pretty quickly. They figured out how they wanted to communicate. She trail rode him. He was a barn favorite and everyone would come to give Chevy a hug. I was hoping that eventually I could go and visit him. I've always wanted to see Hawaii and he was my first nice horse. She was planning on taking him to a few horse shows, and show some people "What a true english horse looks like".

Anyways.... I just got told that he had to be put down Saturday. He was fed his dinner, and was happy/healthy. Then an hour later she got a call that he had somehow broken his leg.

I'm just really sad as this was truly a once in a lifetime horse, and he was truly amazing, and put his heart and soul into every ride.

A goat I raised, Freyja, was in great shape, then suddenly passed away while I was at church today. I helped pull her when she was born almost 8 years ago, and she was one to always pull the sort of stunts to create once in a lifetime stories. "My mom called me from home today because my goat tried to eat her chicken". We always had fun joking about her being roman, or plotting to take over the world. Mom often described her as "a more feisty, spit fire version of River Song" for those of you who are whovians, we were always trying to control the aftermath of the must recent stunt she pulled. Yes, she was always up to something, but at the same time she was the sweetest goat whenever children wanted to pet her and most people who visited the farm said she or her eldest daughter were their favorite, and yet she always made it clear that I was her favorite. I am still having a hard time believing she is gone. All of my goats now are her descendants (2 daughters and a granddaughter) and Mom claims 2 more granddaughters. I also know several people who bought some of Freyja's kids and they are all their favorite goats. She will live on through them.

I am heart broken beyond belief and sometimes find myself asking why and what could I have done differently. I do know that he’s in less pain and running free with our female Athena (his daughter). For now we have our other 2 Danes to focus on and plan to open our hearts and home in the future to another Dane. If you have a giant breed please make yourself familiar with what GDV is.
Would anyone be interested in joining a discord server to just chat about huntjump and whatever else comes to mind? I thought this might be a fun way to continue interacting with other players in a chatroom type setting that is different from the buddy chat. This would be a non-official thing (duh) and would not be for any of the things covered on huntjump such as sales/contests/questions that should be asked here or in the beginner's barn or anything else of that nature. Instead, it would just be a place to chat, hang out, and maybe get to know your fellow huntjump players a little better. Brag about your newest horse, rant about something, discuss how your strategy for the contest is going, or see if anyone else maybe plays other games that you do. If this is somehow against the rules (I didn't see anything that would indicate that) let me know otherwise I did set up a server that, if people are actually interested in this, they could join. My thought process for this is simply to allow for an open type of chatroom where people could come and go and get to know other players a little bit better. I know that, personally, I enjoy a game more and will hang around longer if I make some friends on that game and (again just my opinion) in mmorpg's a huge reason for even being online was finding a fun guild/group to hang around with.

Via Google for those that don't know: Discord is an all-in-one voice and text chat for gamers that's free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone.

If people want to use voice to chat, that's fine, but I figured most would probably just use the text-based channel. So, assuming there is any interest, I'll just post the link here otherwise, if this seems to be a terrible idea, we will just let this post die. lol

For those interested here is the link: https://discord.gg/DEe86Z8

If for some reason this link stops working post here but it should be set to not expire.

I am real into the Arabian looking RH now and I love to play paper dolls with pixel horses{odd I know} but there it is. I am part of another community that plays with the old PC petz game and one of the girls - woman now turned great danez dogz file into horses. We show our horsez and add tack to them. The mare in the photo is modeling a tack set that one of those very creative young women made for the Arabianz people to add to their horsez. I was shocked that it work on this mare. I made the breast strap and I had to modify the bridle to fit my wonderful mare. please enjoy and let me know what you think.
I made my own tattoo that majority of my horses have already, but I just think it’s a little bland. I’m having a hard time thinking of tattoo ideas for Paradise Valley. Could be a symbol or initials, anything really... I’m only capable of simple pixel images so I’m considering paying someone for a design.

Can anyone help me or refer someone?

Just another day up here in Minnesota yesterday as we got pummeled with 12 inches of snow and 25-30mph winds. On the plus side, at least its quite pretty here this morning.

Normally in the winter I would move the horses from their summer pasture to one of my farms that has box stalls so that on days like yesterday they could stay inside snuggled warm and dry. But this year I decided that I wanted to have them at my home farm that has a nice paddock and a considerable lean to about 150ft from my house. Everything has been fine with that arrangement so far even during our almost two week stretch of -15F to -30F daily highs.

Knowing that we had a blizzard coming I spent Sunday afternoon getting the horses' winter paddock "blizzardized". I completely shoveled out their lean to and put down some fresh straw and hung several large hay bags inside the lean to so they wouldn't have to venture out to the roundbale during the storm. Blankets were adjusted and double checked to make sure non one would get cold. Everything should be fine, right?

I went through all that work to make sure they could be warm and dry but did those stubborn beasts take advantage of it? Nope. I went out to check on them around noon thinking that I would find them tucked into their lean to eating hay. Instead I found them all standing outside looking like a bunch of horseicles. Their heads and necks are soaked with icicles all over their faces, and for the cherry on top the 2 yr old has Houdini'd her blanket half way off. So now I'm trying to fix the 2yr olds blanket while a wind gust lifts the dang thing up in the air spooking her and they all take off bucking around the paddock. It took me 20 mins of trudging through the snow (and I'll admit, a little bit of swearing) to catch them and get the dang blanket back on.

Blanket fiasco settled, I desperately tried to lead them into their lean to repeatedly. Its snowing and blowing so hard I can barely see them 10 feet away from me. After leading them in, only to have the following me back out about 5 times. I finally threw my hands up in the air and said "the heck with all of you!"

Alas, they survived and are frolicking around in their paddock enjoying the fresh snow as I type this. Lesson learned, you can lead a horse to shelter but you can't make it stay there!
