Got about 6 calls in a row from my momma at 2 am before I finally woke up enough to realize something was wrong. She answered the phone and told me something had happened at home.

Tonight our six stall barn along with 5 sheep and all of my saddles and bridles I had used for teaching riding lessons all burnt to the ground. The horses are all as safe as they can tell tonight but they had to be shuffled around so here's to hoping nobody does anything ignorant to one another. My father had to literally chase them away from the barn as they were trying to stay close to it.

I don't even know what to say. This year we only have one mare expecting, my personal favorite, and this is her first foal. I'm absolutely losing my mind waiting to see what she throws me now that we are at day 338, which means it can happen at absolutely any point in time. She goes back and forth between showing signs and acting completely normal, having an immense bag and no bag at all, a tail so limp a stiff wind could blow it away and a tail viced down like iron. Saturday night we thought for sure it was going to happen; baby had obviously moved back, had been quiet for a couple days, mare was restless, and all the other little signs were there. On top of that, following some gorgeous 50F weather, we had a record snowfall that topped out at 11.2".

Now that I'm looking at my handy dandy calendar, I would almost bet that I'm going to get an April Fools baby since there's a full moon on the 31st. Plus I'm away for the first big show of the year Friday night and most of the day Saturday. Fingers crossed she goes tonight during the thunderstorms... A close friend of my husband’s family has passed away. My father in law would consider him family and we have spent many camping, four wheeling, etc trips with my in-laws, the friend and his family over the course of our marriage.
His death has been expected in that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer this winter and we knew he would not last very long, but unexpected in that his onset was very sudden and he was very young. His young daughters will be without their Dad for the majority of their lives.

I was not so emotionally close to the deceased, so I feel at peace that he has passed on to the next phase of existence and will no longer be suffering. But my heart aches for his family left behind and my in-laws who will feel his loss terribly. I feel like it would be good to do some sort of service or kindness to lighten their burden.

So my question for you guys is this: If you have had someone very close to you pass away what kinds of service provided by others helped you the most? Or if you have been in a similar situation to me what did you do to help that you thought was worthwhile?

I always knew since the day I was born that I loved running free but as I grew older the fields died out there was fire and drought
It was then I was caught and took to be sold as I thought my life was over I saw the sweetest girl she brought me up something held in her hand I took it cautiously it tasted so Grand then I was sold to an old man I traveled to the home where now I am that was many years ago now I am still with my little girl so sweet and so kind she no longer jumps me says I'm too old but she still comes and grooms me and feeds me so well it says on my door wild Mustang but I'm no longer wild she's grown up now and has brought home a young Colt she still says I am her favorite and we still go on rides.

I have to Edit on the color. After the sun came up and I could see better. She's a silver black pinto complete with light colored eye lashes and she has 1 blue eye. Her reg name will be Skylight's Stormy Daze aka Stormy. Its been raining here for 2 days solid but it cleared up in time for her to be born. My mares dont mind foaling in the mud but in the rain? Never.

Since this is a genetics game. Sire is a black Splash/Tobiano with 2 blue eyes. He's het for black, splash, and tobiano. So far he has 5 babies on the ground two for the previous owner and I think they all have at least one blue eye.

The dam is a silver bay pinto. She hasnt been color tested but I believe she carries splash and tobiano. She has 1 blue eye. She's had 7 foals and all but one have either been silver black or silver bay. That silver gene is pretty dominate gene. Only 2 of those foals were a visible pinto. Her first and most recent.

They were perfectly fine till just last week we found out that one of them was getting significantly fatter than the other and we contacted the pet store and she said that it is very well possible so now our guinea pigs are multiplying..!

Cat: about a month ago we took our cat to the vet to get an appointment to get spayed and they couldn’t touch her cause she’s a grump lol but soon after she was getting fat and we now have baby kittens in the oven as well..!

Our rabbit could also possibly be pregnant as well.


My mare: last may we had a mini stud coming of maturity and we didn’t know that yet so we put him out with the herd like we usually do. I snapped this picture of my 3 year old filly this evening :D

She is a paso fino, and I owned both of her parents as long as one of her grandfathers at one time. She is such a great minded little thing. I was teaching her tonight to yield her forehand and cross over. When she finally got it, I went ahead and took her halter off and let her roam around the pen.

She walked a couple steps away, then crossed her foot over and stopped and looked at me like "did I get it?"

I cant wait to be putting her first ride on! I am enjoying the process of laying down a real foundation rather than just jumping on the horse after like 30 minutes of groundwork as I had previously learned. I'm working a new job now with an amazing horseman that works horses in a way I have never seen before. I am loving it :D

So, the past few weeks I have noticed that, whenever I am on the futon in my living room, (and most days of the week, that's where I sleep.) I keep getting bit by something; my arms, hips, and ankles are under attack. At times, I swear I feel like something is crawling across me. I know for a while we had a flea problem with the cat, but I don't think it's fleas.

This only happens on the one futon. Nowhere else in the entire house.

I've done research and, of course, I am horrified to read that it seems to match up with the dreaded bed bugs. The problem is that I have searched thoroughly for signs of them and cannot find anything at all, other than the bites on me.

I want to call in some exterminator to see if I have them, but of course that'll get expensive and I can't exactly go somewhere for a few days to use a fogger.

So I'm at my wit's end here, tired of being bitten and tired of itching. I'm completely paranoid about what it is and what I can do, or can afford to do.
