Trail of the Pretty Ponies (January) Part 1

Hello! It's time to have this giveaway again! Thanks to return participants and welcome to the new people!

The Goal:
A contest that both "established" players, and new players can have fun with.

The Premise:
Everyone has their own favorite "look" to their horses, that they breed towards. But some peoples "good" horse will be someone elses "Wow" horse. So in this contest, everyone does a switch, and will choose their favorite 5 of someone else's horses. (While practicing their search skills of course)

Entry Guidelines:

Entries must include a minimum of:
3 lines horses. (So up to 2 foundations permissible)
2 foals
2 adults
1 mare/filly
1 stallion/colt
2 altered
3 "home" bred/created horses
3 completely open/unrestricted/nonfantasy genes. (So 2 horses may have closed genes)

FAQ's
What if I'm a newer player and don't feel that I have enough horses? Pretty enough horses ETC?
One of the main goals of this competition is to getting comfortable with the search. IE put in your favorite gene. Add "bred by" and "owned by" with players ID numbers. Put certain ages/genders in etc. After initial entries close this thread can be used for search help questions. Also, I've tried to make the structure of the entries that a newer player can have 2 RS or regular foundation horses as the "adult" horses. Or maybe a show pony they bought on the closed gene only chat. Then the rest can be foals.

What if I'm a large stable and have unfair advantage with how many horses I have?
Would still love to have you enter! Just think the more horses you have the harder it is for the person representing you to pick out someone. So they can practice using the search which is the original goal anyway! And although who you are "partnered" with is mostly random I hope to tweak it a little bit so huge barns are partnered with some of the smaller barns.

Tentative Timeline
Initial Entries Close on the 14th. I will have the partners by the 16th. Voting closes on the 26th. Prizes out no later than the 31st.

Misc Notes
***Please! Put all comments/questions/concerns/statements/help/criticisms on the original post (this one). If we get the number of entries we normally get it just barely gets to 2 pages. And random misc. statements that you have to scroll by get distracting. I would really like to keep it organized. (I love and appreciate suggestions)

Although voting doesn't close until the 26th I would highly recommend having the entry up by the 24th. A lot of people can't get on everyday, and the more time your post is up, the longer a chance it can get voted on).

So far we have 400k in the pot. We have a donor that has given me 200k for the pot. (Someone who hasn't donated before. So love the support of this community). I am going to be able to match that have an additional 200k in the pot. I am not able to break down individual prizes at this time as sometimes we get more "donations". Last time we had a very generous donation and had decent participation prizes, and huge winning prizes.

Winners are chosen 99% by popular vote (Via the thanks option). Although there is no way I could enforce a rule about not voting for yourself, I request that you please don't. In the event of a tie the first tiebreaker will be if the owner or representer voted for their entry. They will be dropped down to the lower placing. After that, I will determine the tie.

Entries need to be picture links. If we get entries anywhere near as large as normal there will be 50 entries with 5 horses apiece. That is 250 horses. No way could we ask everyone to click on each link to look.

I know I always forget something. So please feel free to ask questions if something doesn't make sense. I (or whoever sees it first) will be more than willing to answer your question. Then I will edit this to clarify.

If you would like to enter please put down your ID number (Even if it is in your your signature or whatever its called), and maybe say something to the affect that you would like to enter. (How I will tell the difference between suggestions and actual entries will be the ID number. Just so I'm not confused) Grammer comments are helpful too... I'm doing this at night past my bedtime. Always a dangerous thing....

Thoughts I Had (Edits)

I know I didn't put this soon enough for most of you, but please put something down about how many months/years you have been playing and how many horses you have - about. (So that I can try to make sure smaller barns don't get paired with smaller barns).

Also, with luck of the draw it is always a risk that the player representing you will forget or have to be online. Disasters happen. Although I do believe it is luck of the draw, we almost always have volunteers to pick out horses for you. If this happens, they will only get prize money from their original account.

Finally please only enter under one account.

We had a donation of an additional 200k! So our pot total so far is 600k.

As of right now first place gets 250k (to be divided in 2 between owner/representer. So 125k each).
2nd place 200k (to be divided between owner and representer. So 100k each.)
3rd place 150k (to be divided between owner and representater. So 75k each)

~~We got another donations! Thank you so much! We are now up to 800k! So I will think about how I want to divide it up. Either placings through 4th or offer participation prizes.~~

Last time I did this just about everyone did a piece of artwork, but I've seen a lot of stories on here lately, so anything creative goes. Open indefinitely. Can post up to one entry a week. For those of you who have never played before... Use any methods you wish (suggest looking at parents and making punnet squares, then confirming most likely with phenotype of the foal) to determine the foals genotype (scientific color with alleles). Order of alleles does count hint: sire's allele is first, dam's second. The prize? This 12.2 PT foal, and 20k.

No guarantees on run time.

First tie breaker is white factor.

I picked up a liver stud with the intention of possibly doing some gene modification work on him...needless to say it did not happen. Instead of just putting him in the auction I thought it might be fun to offer him, and a small handful of DP girls to go with him, to someone else. The day has come! I've moved into my new dorm room, and my time spent in my barns has to be much smaller than it has been other years. Almost all of my breeding stock is taken care of, thanks to all of you, but I have a few specials left over on two accounts, many show ponies, and some straws.

Here's how it works.

Each month will have a new theme, and each month gives you another chance to post. The whole contest ends around Christmas, but because I ought to give away the star of the collection soon, part A ends September 15, 3 weeks from now.

I wanted to play something that I used to do in middle school.... One of us starts a story, then me randomly go to the next person and the same story continues. I know we have a lot of stories going on right now, but oh well... Not going to have word counts, but please at least a paragraph each.

I am not guaranteeing participations prizes or anything, but I will check out your wishlist, and try to help you get anything you need if I have it.

Don't feel offended if someone intentionally heads the story in a different way than you. Sometimes that can be part of the fun. Trying to foil one person's "plan" with the story. I'll start with the prompt, but I'm going to try and wait until at least 2-3 people go before I take a full turn. Feel free to go multiple times but please let a few other people go before going again. (I would recommend making people's names extremely simple... otherwise it gets... chaotic....)

I have more than a few horses to sort through, so I figured I should give a few away!
Comment your favorite gene (or two gene combo - so, say, blue roan instead of just roan is fine) and I will look through my barns and give you a random mare and stud with that gene! They might be plain foundations, or they might be a higher gen, bootstrap, or rank special!

I have a few closed genes but not all of them, so please check my licenses if you're interested in a closed gene. Otherwise, I think I probably have at least one of everything floating around somewhere in my barns! On the off chance I don't, I'll ask for your second choice.

So I don't get overwhelmed, I'll do this a few comments at a time and pause it intermittently. Please comment your ID with your gene!

Please request genes only, not weight, generation, etc - I don't have enough horses to fulfill other requests! One gene only, please, unless you have a strict requirement in your lines such as black based or appy! :x
