  • How many horses and how many stalls per barn is now listed in the move horse drop down.
  • Top of the pasture now says how many slots are used
  • The header on the pasture pages now correctly reports the pasture name
  • Total points has been added to the barn page, and profits has been removed since they no longer mater and where confusing people.
  • PT has been removed from the barn page. I don't know anyone who needs this number outside of initial culling.
  • The enter button has been moved to the front for the most prominent location.
  • Names have been made slightly larger for aesthetic reasons.

Nexus splashes a horse with cute little pale stars in its heterozygous form. However it produces an extremely dramatic effect when homozygous. What does that look like? You will just have to experiment and find out.

Nexus horses WILL NOT be eligible for any leader-boards in the game. They are very silly horses and my compromise to keep the game from turning very silly is to put this limit on these guys. This may take a bit of time to implement. Just know that it will be a thing.

As our holiday gift to you I have sent every member a straw from horse number 3 The Brindled Cat. So each of you have a chance at his splash 3 gene.

The Brindled Cat is a Brown Splash Brindle and the founder of Splash 3. Splash 3 is a more aggressive mutation of MITF (the same gene that causes regular splash). Splash 3 horses have as much white as normal homozygous splash horses. This aggressive behavior makes it homozygous lethal with itself and lethal if combined with splash 2. However splash 3 and splash 1 look lovely and loud together.

These are a gift so please do not sell them, but you are more then welcome to give them as gifts to other players :)
These must be used BEFORE February. Once Feb hits any stray straws will be removed from the game.
Please run foals through testing.
If you don't end up with an intact foal I will be selling some Lupin straws shortly.

Herd Download is now fixed and no longer crashes the site, I did have to strip it down in functionality but it does work now and you can once again import your horses into spread sheet software.

I could not get average foal pt to work with the download. Buy, change, and remove your horses' tack in one convenient place!

This is a beta in active development, expect things to break/not work. Don't panic.

How to use (note: Requires javascript):
- Navigate to http://hj2.huntandjump.com/tack.php?horse=YOUR_HORSE_ID

- Think of it like a shopping cart: you can make and preview temporary changes to your horse's tack, then make it permanent by clicking the "confirm" button
- Your horse's currently equipped tack should be listed on the right as series of garish green boxes
  • Click the close box on the right of a listing to slate an item for removal. Note that items won't be actually be removed until you hit the "confirm" button

- How to add a new piece of tack:
  • Click "+Add Tack" or "Add an item" to bring up the catalog
  • Click on the badly styled list of slots on the left to filter the badly styled list of items on the right
  • Click on an item to bring up a list of color swatches below the (currently non-functional) item preview
  • Click to select the color swatch you want, then click "Add"
  • The catalog should close, and the new tack item should show up at the bottom of the list in a garish orange box
  • Be sure to click "preview" to preview your new addition!

- Preview any changes you make by hitting the "preview" button.
- Make changes permanent by hitting the "confirm" button. The amount you'll be charged is listed right above the button.


Known issues:
- It looks bad:
  • Seriously, it look stanky
  • In particular, it's hard to tell what can and should be clicked on
  • There's no visual indicator that the preview is out-of-date
  • It'll occasionally pop up big scary error messages
  • Expect major changes over the next few days

- You can slate an equipped item for removal, but you can't undo that without refreshing
- Throws up a big nasty error if you try to look at the page without providing a proper horse id
- Error messages are currently turned up to be very aggressive. If a big, scary orange box pops up, don't panic
- "Add Tack" issues:
  • Oh god, it's hideous
  • The preview image is currently non-functional
  • Owned color palettes still show up in the "everything" listing
  • Items you buy don't show up in the "owned" listing until after you refresh
  • The color swatches for backgrounds and some of the manes are broken




Browser compatibility:
- Not currently tested in any browsers besides firefox
- Probably won't work below Internet Explorer 8

But Ice2 was made to interact with other copies of Ice. If a horse has one copy of Ice2 and one copy of any other type of ice (besides 2) that horse gains the Aurora effect giving them a rainbow sheen all over.

It is not a secret that in the past few years I have had a slew of health problems that impacted my working on the game. I also added a new gene today. Available to everyone and already creatable. This new gene is not testable or GMT'able. It must be created. The new gene is dense pheomelaninand is responsible for creating dark chestnut colors. True livers and even black chestnuts are creatable in the game now. Livers are not super uncommon now but black chestnuts are pretty rare. Dense pheomelanin interacts with the sooty gene as well. A horse with two doses of dense pheomelanin is a liver color but one with two doses and two doses of sooty is a black chestnut.

Check out some of the new shades you can create and breed.

Tack and tattoos are fully working now and are MUCH faster then they used to be. Horses with them will still be a bit slower then those with out but overall it had solved a lot of lag issues.

Over a dozen backgrounds are in the tack store to purchase right now. This is a very band-aid solution but I am not going to get it working really smoothly since Haystack is still working hard on the new tack store. If you buy multiple backgrounds and one gets stuck you will need to go in and manually turn that background off in the horses tack box. The system is not smart enough to know which is the last one you purchased yet.

Speaking of which Haystack is stilling working like mad on or new tack store system. He is making good progress but it will still be another few weeks before we see the new shiny tack store and fully customizable tack.

Now that all this work is finished I can move forward on interchangeable manes and tails. Braids, long hair etc is coming! Once that is out it is flaxen time. (Finally! I was able to clean out enough that I am confident in adding a reroll everything option. Go to the reroll area in the IV manager just like a normal reroll but select the very last option marked Reroll Everything. It will for free mark all of your horses for rerolling.

In my hunting I discovered tattoos are a major source long generation times and server lag. I think I can fix this with out to much issue but for the moment they are turned off. They will not generate on the horses image again until I get them fixed. Sorry for the hassle there but you can still search them, add them, and see them on the horses page.


If you use the reroll everything option, be kind to the server and your fellow players. DO NOT OPEN ALL THE PAGES AT ONCE. If you do this the server will lock you out and may cause errors in the images for your horses. Open no more then 5 pages at once please and let those load before you do the next batch. Or don't mass load them all at all. Technical Mumbo Jumbo:
As part of my on going effort to make our horse image gen more realistic I want to do a bunch of work on how manes are created. I could not do that until the system for handling the backgrounds behind the horses was modernized a bit. I have done all the back-end work to make it so you can swap backgrounds for your horses. This will be coming out at a later date but just wanted to point out there was more to this change then just adding in some art. If you love the old solid blue don't worry it will return as a selectable background in the future.

The Short Version:
Reroll your horses. They look cooler now.

As always we will let this go live for a day or so and if things look stable I will port it over to Hj1


There are some bugs still with the edges of the manes. Since I am doing manes next I was not worried about them. You can ignore them for now.]]>
