Warning: Barn prices via IVs will be changing

Very soon (this week!) I am changing how barn pricing works via IVs. If you are sitting on IVs and want to spend them on barns do so now. The cost of a new barn will soon be going up based on the number of stalls you own. (Again only the IV price).

Why the change? We are running over 1.1 million show entries per week on Hj1 alone. Almost all those entries are being created, entered and run automatically without anyone even looking at the horses. Many of these horses don't even have pictures because no one has EVER looked at them.

The number of show entries we are running per day is growing at an unsustainable rate and causing server issues. We have things as optimized as we can get them but there gets to be a point where databases are simply not designed to natively handle that sort of load.

I'm not going to limit the number of horses you can own, or the number of stalls you can own, or the number of shows you can enter or any other number of things I COULD do to slow down show herd growth. Those don't seem that fair. Instead the number of physical stalls you own will modify the cost of new barns.

-This will kick in once you own more than 1000 stalls (does not mater if that is in one barn or 50).
-Primary barn stalls do not count
-Pastures do not count
-Price will change based on the number of stalls past 1000. I don't know what those numbers will be yet.
-Price to buy with real money is NOT changing at all.
-Only IVs because bigger barns print game money and that lets them add more barns and grow at an exponential rate and gobble up server resources making the game run slower for everyone.

I will have more info when I get into the actual code of this but I wanted to warn people who have been stockpiling IVs.

Just a suggestion, sell your candy horses don't auction them.

Candy ponies all can sell for around the same amount, (around 200k-225k). Save your self the time and just toss them up for sale. There is no point in auctioning when they come out the same price.

How things work on the lb for top stud and mare have changed slightly so I wanted to give a rundown.

Anytime you look at a horse's page it checks them for foals and then updates their foal score if they qualify for the LB. It zero outs the foal score for any horse that does not qualify.
To qualify for the LB a horse must have a living foal that is less then 3 years old (that is foals born the current or prior year).
Stallions must have a minimum of 10 foals, mares a minimum of 3.
The act of breeding a horse will also trigger a foal score update on both sire and dam. You do not need to pull up the pages of breeders from today on to get on the LB.
Foal scores are not dropped at the end of the season. That means horses that no longer qualify for the LB are not auto kicked off. To force an update just open that horse's page and they will be removed.

We will be shut down Monday August 28th for scheduled database maintenance.

Fantasy Gene AXIOM | On sale now through August 12th!

On sale through August 12th

Axiom is a new variant on nexus. It comes in three color ways red, blue and green. These can be mixed to create yellow, cyan and magenta axiom. Like nexus, the lighter your base color the darker the base is. The darker the base color the lighter the base is. The amount of color (red/green/blue etc) is random, is is the location and placement of the stars. Rerolls will change the look.

In addition each color of axiom can often have haloing of a complimentary color. For example cyan with burgundy halo or green with purple halo. Halo is a side affect of interacting with the base color. Dark bases like black, bay etc will have lighter and more vivid halo. Light bases like cremello will have no halo.

EXAMPLES

One copy or a copy with nexus looks like this.

Axiom comes in three colors and must be homozygous to show.

Red

Blue

and Green

You can also mix the colors

Red + Blue = Magenta

Blue + Green = Cyan

Red+ Green = Yellow

Axiom is darker then nexus and will not cause the light blue and light gray shades that dark bay nexus horses get.

Black results in the lightest nexus.

This horse is green showing magenta haloing.

Blue axiom results in yellow halo here

And red axiom in teal halo

Base color affects the halo color. This blue axiom on bay shows both yellow and green halo.

Axiom is extremely dynamic and rerolls can cause huge changes. This is the same horse just rerolled

The lighter your base color the darker axiom will look. Here is red on chestnut.

And red + blue on palomino

And blue + green on cremello

As always rerolls make huge changes.

HOW TO PURCHASE

Axiom can only be added to foundations age 4 or below.
Clones must be preapproved by me.

Bug Fixes/Weekend Wishes | New Features

After travel, car in the shop, baby in the hospital, a far too crafty buck goat and a slew of other not fun stuff things are FINALLY settling back down to normal. Here is a run down of things I knocked out this morning.

I cleaned up the bug list and took care of a bunch of minor issues. If something was removed from the list but is still bugged please feel free to re-add it.

Rules on the breed name page have been clarified and your free first name change is working properly again.

From weekend wishes there have been a few new feature.
>Premium users will now see the auto show status of each barn at the top of the page. (With the enter all button)
>Consistency info now shows next to PT on the search.
>Arrows now allow you to navigate to the next or previous horse in a barn. This is ordered by ID# only. Any requests for anything but ID ordering will be shot down as the ID sort alone is adding some strain to the server. I'm not even sure these will be staying but I am willing to try them. Any other sort would be many times more server intensive. I have added an ID# sort option to barns/pastures as well.
>>Give me a bit to add this feature to horses in pasture. That is a different search and I don't have that finished yet.

HAJ 11th Anniversary: New gene Macchiato! ||Orders Now Closed Available in the Gene Mod Lab

Macchiato in real life: Macchiato occurred as a random mutation in a Freiberger stallion (now gelded) named Apache du Peupe. It was discovered the mutation was located on MITF which is also responsible for the more common splash white mutations. The official name is MITF^{N310S. In real life the gene causes large lacy splash markings, hazy roaning, blue eyes, and cream like body dilution. It also suspected to cause infertility. Apache du Peupe was gelded due to low sperm mobility.

Macchiato in game: Since the gene only existed in one horse who is now gelded I have taken some liberty in interpreting it here. We have the same markings, and coat dilution and a large (but not guaranteed) chance at blue yes. Fertility is not affected. In game the gene is designated as Sp^M. There is no difference between homozygous and heterozygous horses. The gene is not lethal with anything in game. (In real life it would probably have many lethal interactions, but since the real line won't continue I am going to ignore that ;) .)

On flaxen chestnut.

On liver chestnut with splash 1 as well. (Note it dose NOT cause palomino manes)

It does not interact with cream/pearl and does not cause double dilutes. It does interact with other splash genes.

Let's Work On Layout Usability Issues!

Now that the bulk of the new layout updates are in it is time to start addressing all the little things that need polished up. I am going to start with usability issues. Those are things that the game is displaying is such a way that they are difficult to use. Please only report display issues NOT feature requests.

Example of a display issue: "The pasture info is squished up and hard to read". or "On mobile the graying out to show already bred mares does not work"

Example of a Feature Request: "Add a check box to move horses in the pasture faster"

The display issues are being addressed right now. Feature requests need to be made on weekend wishes posts. I am going to start with things that are hard to use. After I knock some of those out, then we can get to things that look awkward.

How to post a constructive comment: Clearly explain the issue you are experiencing and what page it is happening on. Let me know if this happens on narrow mode, wide mode or both. Give a suggestion on how it can be improved or what would make it more usable.

I decided it would help people a lot to see some real concrete examples of what sort of intact rates you should expect from breeding your horses. I created 50 perfect foundation mares and bred them each 8 times too different studs at different pasture bonus levels. Here are the results.

**All horses used in this test and all foals had all testing done on them including strict breeding advice. You can expect a much larger number of intact foals (near double) for regular breedng advice**

Test 1: Perfect foundation stallion (100% breeding ability) bred to 50 perfect foundation mares (100% breeding ability), zero days in pasture.
Results: 12 intact foals, 38 altered foals. Avg breeding ability 99%, Avg PT 9.65

Test 2: Perfect foundation stallion (100% breeding ability) bred to 50 perfect foundation mares (100% breeding ability), 30+ days in pasture.
Results: 34 intact foals, 16 altered foals. Avg breeding ability 102%, Avg PT 9.91

Test 3: Exceptionaly perfect foundation stallion (105% breeding ability) bred to 50 perfect foundation mares (100% breeding ability), zero days in pasture.
Results: 3 intact foals, 47 altered foals. Avg breeding ability 103%, Avg PT 9.99

Test 4: Exceptionaly perfect foundation stallion (105% breeding ability) bred to 50 perfect foundation mares (100% breeding ability), 30+ days in pasture.
Results: 20 intact foals, 30 altered foals. Avg breeding ability 105%, Avg PT 10.21

Major Updates to Layout/Testing: Please read before posting

Those of you who play HJ1 will know what's up but these changes may come as a big shock to HJ2 players. Welcome to our new layout. Please note the following changes

Screen Size
We now have two layout versions. Widescreen mode has a permanently open navigation window. You can find key info like your hbs, and current alerts on the right hand side. Narrow mode is for mobile devices. The menu pops out and can be hidden away for convenience. The site will also be bigger and easier to click on now.

Testing
HUGE changes to testing. Please note testing is now found on each horses page in the control panel AND at the bottom of every barn page. You can test is bulk using the barn page. Just select the desired horses using the check box and click to test.

Testing has been simplified as well with less tests, that are cheaper, and with more options for free members. I will more info below.

Stable Managment
All your stable management links are now on your Stable Home page instead of in the navigation menu.

Note: There are few things not working just yet like tack. Should be working shortly but I wanted to get the site back open for you.

Breeding advice is not any harder than before. It is using the same numbers it has for years it just looks at sire and dam score now. Basically it is less tolerant of breeding uneven because you can no longer skate by off the weaker parents score.
